Immersive Design
I edited and produced the video. As well as acted in it :)
In our Designing For and With The Body class, my partners and I embarked on an intriguing project to create a wearable piece of technology we named the "Chest TrunK." The concept was to design a unique extra limb, mimicking the functionality of an elephant trunk, to aid in multitasking and simplify everyday tasks. We devoted a considerable amount of time to developing our prototype, utilizing a range of materials sourced primarily from the local dollar store.
Plastic solo cups formed the structure, while yarn and zip ties were used for flexibility and support, ensuring that our contraption could mimic the dexterity we envisioned. Tinfoil added an interesting aesthetic element while also serving practical purposes in reinforcing certain features.
Once our prototype took shape, we filmed a video demonstrating what it might look like to wear and function the trunk in the everyday world. The entire process was both challenging and rewarding, allowing us to explore creativity and functionality in wearable tech design.
