My first co-op (6 month long internship) I did was for an outdoor advertising company called JCDecaux, where I worked as there photography/graphic design intern. I had the pleasure of moving to New York City from January to June of 2022, where I lived with a friend of mine going to school in the city at the time.
At this internship I worked alongside the head photographer and creative director helping produce photos and other content posted to their social media accounts. They taught me how to use a camera in professional settings and how to create content catered to potential clients looking for means of advertising. Every week I got to work on client photo requests, that I got to handle on my own and submit to my supervisors. Along with those projects, I was able to work on a 3 month long project where I was testing a new photo archival system that helped keep record of photos and existing clients. I made sure the system was consumer friendly and and easy to use. This meant I needed to understand who would be using it and what features should be incorporated to make it an easy to use system for employees.
Not only did I learn a lot from my coworkers, but I also built lifelong connections and had amazing city experiences.
Street Advertisment
This collection of photos was taken by me for the marketing team to use for their social media campaigns. The process involved me to go to different locations around Manhattan to take photos of advertisements running on various JCDecaux bus shelters and News Stands. After, I captured the photos for the clients I edited them to give them a cleaner appearance. These were then sent over to our clients and to our marketing team, so they use them for social media posts.
Portraits
The photos presented are headshots I took for employees at JCDecaux. Each employee received free headshots taken by me and the head photographer. These photos were edited according to the employees own unique requirements. This experience taught me all the requirements going into taking a headshot, everything from lighting to making the subject feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera.
