My most recent work experience was a summer internship working for a nonprofit organization, Artists for Humanity. This organization gives under resourced teens paid positions in art and design. These teens work on creative projects for clients all around Boston.

My role was creative design assistant mentor. In this position, I assisted the main mentor guiding and helping these teens with projects and it also gave me the opportunity to learn Javascript, html and CSS. These coding skills will help me with future projects creating different web interfaces.

Aside from being a mentor, I was able to collaborate on a note taking application with 2 other mentors. We developed the name “Blank”for the application . The time spent on this project over the summer with my coworkers was 8 weeks.

My contributions to the “BLank” project

We created this application as a more efficient organizational tool for the end user. The user can create different subject folders that are color coded, enabling them to better organize their schedules. The color coding, we believe makes subject identification visually easier and getting to customize your color selections, adds an element of fun. At the beginning of the summer session this project began as an idea and evolved into a functional prototype by the end of the program.

My coworker Phuong Nguyen and I developed the user experience design, giving the app its brand identity and structure. Our other coworker Jamie De Los Santos, engineered the application to be a smooth running interface. Our process involved a lot of learning; every fork in the road was met with research and constant feedback. This will be an on going project and thanks to the help and feedback from the teens at Artists for Humanity, we can eventually get our app on all devices app stores.
